Using the calliper tool
This tool allows you to measure the lengths of sides of objects on screen. It can also be used to help you draw to scale.
1. Click on the ‘Toolbar control’ button
and select the ‘Graphic’ and ‘Draw’ toolbars.
2. Select the ‘Polygon’ tool
and draw a shape.

3. Click on the ‘Calliper’ button
. You will notice that the mouse pointer has changed to crosshairs.
4. Place the crosshairs on one end of the drawn shape and drag them across to the other end that needs to be measured. The calliper tool will measure in the same scale as the grid background.
5. To measure another line select the ‘Calliper’ tool and repeat as before.

6. By holding down the ‘Ctrl’ key on the keyboard while using the calliper tool it allows the line to be positioned in the desired location.
