Textease - On the Road
On Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th July, Softease were out visting our Schools and Local Authorities at the Stoke CLC E-maginative Learning Conference. We had an exhibition stand in the main hall where the key speakers and seminars were taking place.
At our stand we were demonstrating Textease and its use in the Curriculum. Multi-modality featured in the talks by a number of speakers at this event. Textease handles this so well. I got excited by this and was actually capturing images live with my webcam, through the ‘Aquire’ button on the Textease Resource Bank, to put into a Textease page and having a play, as they were talking. (Exhibitors privilege!)
There were some truely inspiring speakers at the event, including John Davitt, Stephen Heppell, Steve Moss and Dr Baldev Singh. Two others who especially got my attention were Gerry Gray and Martin Emanuel. These are both teachers who have real passion about their subjects and must be really engaging the children in their learning. Gerry was involved in an innovative Tablet PC project in her School and Martin teachers Engineering and uses ICT in a very different way for cross curricular learning. The whole event was captured on Video and will be published for you to view in due course on the Stoke CLC website.
I was so captivated by Gerry and her effervescent character that I switched on my desktop microphone in the exhibition hall, from at least 10 metres away, to capture some of what she was saying, to try and put it into a Podium Podcast or into a Textease Presentation. The sound quality although a little fuzzy was pretty amazing with just a simple Logitech microphone, and a room full of people and technology. Here’s an MP3 exert…gerry-gray.mp3
Have a go yourself at capturing sounds, video and pictures and using them in your own multimedia pages in Textease.
